“The Drive with Brad Bobo” goes back to the “Where Are They Now” Department Tuesday afternoon to visit with another former Arkansas State athletic standout, M.D. Jennings. The defensive back, recruited by Steve Roberts, played four years with the Red Wolves, then spent three years in the NFL. The last four seasons, he’s been a high school assistant coach–two at national power South Panola High in Batesville, Mississippi, and the last two at his alma mater, Calhoun City as their offensive coordinator. But in March, M.D. was named the Wildcats’ first-ever black head coach. He recalled his recruitment to A-State, a huge play during his brief NFL career (which happened on Monday Night Football!), his coaching history, and where his nickname, “Grump”, came from.
