Day one of the NCAA West Regional qualifying meet in Sacramento, California is in the books, and two members of the Arkansas State track & field team have advanced to the National Championships in Austin, Texas June 5-8. One of those qualifying on Thursday is pole vaulter Michael Carr. The former Jonesboro Westside Warrior finished in the top 12 with a best attempt of 17’7″ (5.31 meters). Carr joined “The Drive with Brad Bobo” Friday from San Francisco with his thoughts on his efforts in the qualifying meet. (Long jumper Carter Shell is the other Red Wolf who qualified for Nationals yesterday; it’ll be his second consecutive trip.)
