A former high school, college, and pro football standout from the Mid-South will be in Jonesboro Friday night to help in the fight against breast cancer. The NEA Baptist Foundation will be hosting “An Evening of Hope with DeAngelo Williams” Friday evening at 6:30 in the Cooper Alumni Center at Arkansas State University. DeAngelo, the standout running back at Wynne and the University of Memphis, lost his mother, Sandra Hill, to breast cancer. His wearing of pink on his Carolina Panthers uniform–despite being fined for it–was the impetus for the NFL’s salute for breast cancer awareness in the month of October. (That month is now honoring and supporting the fight for all cancers.)
Robbie Johnson, the executive director of the NEA Baptist Charitable Foundation, joined “The Drive with Brad Bobo” on Tuesday with details on Friday’s event, and also some information on the local Center for Good Grief.
